Maureen Draganowski, Co-Founder of the Midwest Face Painters Guild
Maureen Draganowski, aka MoMo the Clown, has been in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, starting her career in the theatrical/special effects arena for stage productions while in High School. She began her instruction through a special program for theatrical makeup training at the Goodman Theatre of Chicago. She went on to assist local make up artist Art Anthony, whom she apprenticed under in the commercial TV and film arena while completing her formal education.
She expanded her venue by becoming a licensed cosmetologist, and became a prominent force in the hair/make up industry in Chicago's Gold Coast area in the mid 1980s. Maureen broadened her arena working as a special effects artist for several area haunted houses, specializing in monster make up, costuming and scene design. In later years, what began as a hobby of tole painting, moved into becoming a One Stroke Painting Instructor, and owner of Painted Possibilities, a custom painted glassware and curio establishment.
Maureen now combines her extensive knowledge of theatrical training, commercial and theatrical make up, special effects make up, hair styling and painted brushwork into a unique blend of artistry for children and adults alike. Maureen incorporates many years of early childhood development training into fun, outgoing character performers who can interact with children and adults of all ages.
Maureen continues to draw on her love of the theatre by performing as a clown and costumed performer. She also attends continuing education classes with world championship level instructors on a regular basis to keep abreast of the commercial make up industry standards and guidelines. She serves as a face painting instructor and, most recently, a judge at the FPBAA Convention amongst her peers. Maureen is a member of the Face Painting and Body Art Association.
